TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson police officer still in the probationary phase of his employment has been fired.

Police said Thursday that investigators determined Benjamin Gaballa falsified a report, engaged in misrepresentation of facts to his supervisor and mishandled evidence.

Gaballa was hired by Tucson police last September.

After completing academy and field training, he was assigned as a patrol officer.

Pima County Jail personnel told police that a female prisoner accused Gaballa of inappropriate conduct with her.

During the investigation, Gaballa was removed from duty and placed on imposed leave.

Police said the criminal investigation into Gabella's actions continued.
