PHOENIX -- An excessive heat warning has been issued for the Phoenix area as well as nearby communities including Casa Grande, Gila Bend and Wickenburg.
The warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to surpass 110 degrees.
The National Weather Service said hot afternoon temperatures will be followed by little relief at night.
People who spend time outdoors are advised to limit strenuous activities or reschedule them to evening or early morning.
Other tips include taking breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places, drinking lots of water and wearing loose clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.
