Pendant honors Hotshots lost in Yarnell Hill Fire

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Two Prescott sculptors and a foundry have teamed up to produce a pendant honoring the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who died June 30 while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Sculptor Natalie Krol said she was moved to create the pendant after learning that Prescott had lost what she called "the cream of the crop."

The oval-shaped bronze pendant displays 18 small stars and one large one and the words "Hot Shots."

Krol said the design symbolizes that all of the Hotshots were "very special."

Prescott sculptor Karl Kendall made the clay and wax model for the casting done at Jeff Dykeman Art Foundry.

According to The Daily Courier, 90 percent of the proceeds will go to Prescott Fire Fighters Charities to help the fallen Hotshots' families.
