KINGMAN, Ariz. -- At least 16 people were arrested on Thursday on warrants alleging crimes involving drugs and firearms in Mohave County, authorities said.

More than 60 law enforcement agents fanned out across the Arizona county before dawn. They said many of the firearms violations were for sawed-off shotguns and felons being in possession of firearms, while the drug violations dealt primarily with methamphetamine.

Authorities served 26 arrest warrants and one search warrant.

The warrants targeted more than two dozen people involved in a seven-month undercover investigation. Dubbed Operation Street Sweeper, it was conducted by the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team, or MAGNET, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Authorities said many of the arrests were made in the Kingman area.

Ten defendants remained at large, and Thomas Atteberry, special agent in charge of the ATF Phoenix field division, said the search would continue. Four additional individuals were arrested on unrelated outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Authorities said an improvised explosive device and a sawed-off shotgun were seized after the search warrant was served. The device was rendered safe.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities said there's a possibility of more charges.

``ATF and MAGNET will continue working together to go after these individuals to take them off our streets,'' Atteberry said. ``When violent crime is reduced, everyone wins.''
