PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are searching for a man and woman following a string of crimes that ended with a shooting Monday night.

Police Sgt. Steve Martos says the crime spree started when a suspect forced three people from their SUV near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road.

The suspect along with the man and woman who are being sought then went to a home where they assaulted a resident. The victim was able to take a gun from one of the suspects and began firing at them as they fled.

Martos says officers were called to a Burger King restaurant where they found one of the suspects with multiple gunshot wounds. He was seated in the stolen SUV with a handgun at his feet. He's now hospitalized in serious condition.

The other two suspects, the man and woman, remain at large.
