GILBERT, Ariz. -- Three firefighters were taken to the hospital Monday as a precaution after they came in contact with oil while fighting a small fire at Salt River Project's power plant in Gilbert.
SRP officials tell KNXV that the fire started just before 8 a.m. when a hydraulic line became detached and sprayed oil on some nearby pipes. The hot pipes then started to smoke.
A Gilbert fire official says firefighters got oil on their hands and their gear. They were taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.
SPR says there was little damage done to the plant, and service was not disrupted as a result of the fire.
