PHOENIX -- A heavily used state Motor Vehicle Division in west Phoenix is closed because the theft of copper wiring knocked out its power and air conditioning.

The Department of Transportation says the facility is now running on temporary power but is unable to provide customer services.

ADOT says the office was closed Monday as a result of the theft that is believed to have taken place early in the morning.

Workers assigned to the office were sent to work at other Phoenix-area locations temporarily.

Repairs are estimated to take at least a day and cost an estimated $5,000.

The temporarily closed office is located at 4005 N. 51st Ave.
