SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. -- A 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in a golf cart died after the vehicle rolled over in the Pinal County community of San Tan Valley.

Authorities say the rollover occurred after the golf cart's driver tried to make a right turn late Saturday night as the packed vehicle was returning from a restaurant.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says 16-year-old Julieann Arancel fell out of the cart after it rolled over and that the vehicle landed on her.

She was pronounced dead more than an hour after the one-vehicle accident.

Nine people were on the golf cart at the time.

Authorities say the rollover was caused by an inexperienced driver who was steering an overloaded vehicle.

Drugs and alcohol weren't believed to have played a part in the rollover.
