Deadly rollover temporarily closes southern Ariz. highway
ELOY, Ariz. -- One person is dead and several children are injured following a rollover crash Saturday morning on Interstate 10 in southern Arizona.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials confirmed the one-vehicle crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. south of Eloy. It forced the temporary closure of the highway.
DPS Officer Carrick Cook told KNXV that a rear tire on the minivan separated, causing the vehicle to roll into the median.
Cook said the driver, a woman from Silver City, N.M., was ejected and died at the scene.
Katy Reeves of Southwest Ambulance/Rural Metro said another adult was transported to a Tucson hospital in critical condition.
She said three children that were traveling in the van are in critical condition and seven others were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
