PHOENIX -- U.S. Sen. John McCain plans a visit to Grand Canyon National Park to highlight efforts to protect and preserve the endangered condor.

McCain's office said the senator will be in Arizona on Friday, joined by representatives from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service and others.

McCain planned to highlight voluntary programs in Arizona and Utah that incentivize use of non-lead ammunition in hunting rifles after a string of recent condor deaths that have been tied to lead poisoning.

The senator also planned to meet with members of the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce during his visit.
