SALT LAKE CITY -- National Park Service officials say a Salt Lake City man has drowned in a boating accident at Lake Powell.

Officials at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the Utah-Arizona border say the accident happened Wednesday night near the Dangling Rope Marina.

Spokeswoman Denise Shultz told the Salt Lake Tribune she did not immediately have other details about how the accident occurred.

She says officials on Thursday afternoon had not yet released the man's name.

The area is near the site of a June accident on the lake where three Utah women died after their boat flipped over when it struck a houseboat.

Investigators said the boat's driver was distracted by children on the craft.
