SUN CITY, Ariz. -- Authorities say 73-year-old Earlene Rudolph is dead in Sun City in what may be another mercy killing.
MCSO Sgt. Brandon Jones said the woman's husband Howard Allen Rudolph was arrested and booked into 4th Avenue jail Wednesday night on first-degree murder charges.
During questioning, Rudolph admitted he killed his wife because she was sick.
Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say they received a 911 call about 9 a.m. Wednesday and responded to a Sun City home.
Patrol deputies say they found the woman dead at the scene from what appears to be multiple gunshot wounds.
According to Jones, a weapon and a note implicating Rudolph was recovered at the scene.
An 86-year-old Sun City man was sentenced to probation in March for fatally shooting his ailing wife last November.
The man says his 81-year-old wife suffered from multiple sclerosis and didn't want to spend the rest of her life in a nursing home.
