PHOENIX — President Barack Obama and Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan toured a Chandler, Ariz., construction company on Tuesday, a pool report said.
Obama visited Erickson Construction en route to Desert Vista High School, where he was scheduled to make a speech on the state of the nation’s housing.
While touring the framing company, Obama, in rolled up shirt sleeves, occasionally stopped to meet with some of the workers.
“Good I’m proud of you,” Obama said to one worker, who had just finished showing the president the roof frames he had built.
The president also posed for pictures with some of the workers.
Erickson Construction prefabricates portions of homes to speed construction. The company employs about 600 people.
