Gov. Jan Brewer to greet the President after confrontation last time

Aug 5, 2013, 5:36 PM | Updated: 5:37 pm

PHOENIX – Gov. Jan Brewer will be present at Sky Harbor International Airport on Tuesday to greet President Barack Obama after last year’s finger-pointing showdown.

On January 25, 2012, President Obama came to the Valley to talk about jobs in Arizona, but when greeted by Gov. Brewer the topic was immediately about the border between Arizona and Mexico.

He described her account of the events as being inaccurate.

The only photographer present at the tarmac was quick enough to snap a shot of Gov. Brewer pointing her index finger at the President, which created a flare of controversy.

During that visit, Gov. Brewer handed a handwritten letter to the President in which she made an invitation for him to return to the state to have lunch with her and to also visit the U.S.-Mexico border together.

“He was a little thin-skinned,” Brewer said in an appearance on News/Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac & Gaydos Show.

Obama will talk about housing at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee.

We want to hear from you.
