PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a deputy has been involved in a fatal shooting in Gila Bend.
Sheriff's officials say an off-duty deputy was working in the Gila Bend area about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when a domestic violence incident was reported.
A couple was reported to be arguing on a street and the woman's boyfriend allegedly was threatening her with a baseball bat.
The deputy was the first to arrive on the scene and the man reportedly refused commands to drop the bat.
The deputy says the man then charged him in an aggressive manner and he feared for his life and shot the man once in the chest.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities on Monday identified the dead man as 30-year-old Warren G. Cipriano.
