TUCSON, Ariz. -- Authorities have identified a man who died after jumping from a cliff into a pool at Tanque Verde Falls near Tucson.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office said the death of 29-year-old Richard M. Baker is being called a drowning.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office said witnesses reporting seeing the man hit his head while jumping off a cliff into the water on Sunday.

Bystanders pulled him from the water after he didn't immediately surface. However, he was unconscious and not breathing.

The bystanders immediately started life-saving techniques until deputies arrived a few minutes later. He was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived.
