Northern Arizona braces for another day of rain
FLAGSTAFF -- Northern Arizona is bracing for another day of rain after it was hammered Saturday by thunderstorms that brought four inches of rain to the Yavapai County community of Ash Fork.
Meteorologist Robert Rickey with the National Weather Service's Flagstaff office says the storm forecast for Sunday has led to a flash flood watch for northwestern Coconino County until 10 p.m.
Saturday's storm dropped four inches of rain on Ash Fork within two hours and led to flash flooding.
The water flooded parking lots and overtopped roadways.
Prescott and the eastern Arizona communities of Snowflake and Taylor saw one to two inches of rain.
The rains forced the closure of an 18-mile stretch of Interstate 40 west of Flagstaff Saturday for about two hours.
The roadway has since reopened.
