PHOENIX -- A soldier from Arizona has been killed in Afghanistan and Gov. Jan Brewer has ordered flags on all state government buildings to fly at half-staff Thursday until sunset.

According to ABC15.com, 1st Lt. Jonam Russell was killed Tuesday in Wardak Province, Afghanistan.

Russell, an Arizona State University graduate, enlisted in May 2011.

The University will be holding a memorial ceremony in Old Main on ASU's Tempe campus on Friday morning July 26 at 10 a.m.

Russell was part of the Arizona State University Army ROTC Sun Devil Battalion.
