PHOENIX — After nearly 30 years of growing and selling plants near the base of Phoenix’s South Mountain on 32nd Street, Gardener’s World Nursery is closing.
“It’s bittersweet,” said Sharon Petterson. “We’re going to miss all the wonderful people.”
Petterson had planned to retire with her husband, Gary, but after he died in February she started planning the nursery’s closure. A liquidation sale is now underway. Petterson said she’ll really miss the annual poinsettia festival.
“Twenty-eight years we did that,” she said. “And, the community will definitely miss the poinsettia festival and the many, many beautiful colors we have grown.”
While the nursery is closing, Petterson said she will keep Gardener’s Eden, the landscaping side of the business.
