PHOENIX -- A Camp Verde man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with an assault that left the victim with serious injuries.

Federal prosecutors say 26-year-old Rosalio Perez Gutierrez Jr. pleaded guilty in May to a charge of kidnapping, which involved the assault while on the Yavapai Apache Reservation on March 26, 2012.

He was sentenced Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in Phoenix.

Authorities said Gutierrez became angry during a domestic dispute, chased after another man who was walking down the street and wrestled him to the ground.

Gutierrez then pulled out a knife and began stabbing him multiple times in the head and arms.

The victim sustained serious and life-threatening injuries as a result of the assault, but survived. His name hasn't been released.
