Husband, sons charged with abuse in Phoenix woman's death
PHOENIX -- A man and his two adult sons face a vulnerable-adult abuse charge in the death of a 73-year-old woman found dead in a van with dozens of animals.
A criminal complaint filed Wednesday by Maricopa County prosecutors also accuses Alva Stout and sons Gregory and Alan of 34 counts of animal cruelty.
The van was carrying 35 animals when 73-year-old Lola Mae Stout was found dead Sunday.
Police have said Loa Stout had high blood pressure and other medical conditions which required specific medical care.
Gregory Stout told ABC 15 that he was taking his parents to a homeless shelter in Phoenix.
He said he didn't know his mother died en route and that he feels he is being punished for trying to get his parents into a better situation.
