PHOENIX -- An ozone health watch has been issued for Thursday in metropolitan Phoenix.
The watch was issued because pollution levels could approach the federal health standard for air quality.
Environmental regulators recommended people who are unusually sensitive to air quality limit their time outdoors. Ozone can irritate the lungs and aggravate existing health conditions such as asthma.
Authorities also suggested people avoid waiting in their cars at drive-thru restaurants, unplug electronic devices and appliances that aren't being used and fuel cars after dark or during cooler evening hours.
