PHOENIX -- A judge has dismissed two federal charges against a man accused of detonating a homemade explosive device in November outside a Social Security Administration office building in Casa Grande.
The dismissal of the charges of maliciously damaging federal property by means of explosives against Abdullatif Ali Aldosary came at the request of federal prosecutors.
Federal prosecutors had said the two charges should be dismissed because a Pinal County grand jury recently indicted Aldosary on arson and related state charges for the same conduct and that he can't be tried for the same conduct in separate criminal courts.
Pinal County Attorney's Office spokesman Jim Knupp declined to comment.
Federal prosecutors said they will continue to press three gun charges against Aldosary, who immigrated to the United States from Iraq in 1997.
Aldosary pleaded not guilty to the federal charges.
