PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have identified a man found dead on the city's west side.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said 34-year-old James Carter died as a result of trauma and foul play is suspected.

Investigators have no suspects yet.

Carter's body was found early Thursday on West Palm Lane after officers were called out for a welfare check.
