PHOENIX -- A Peoria man accused of threatening Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's life in an online posting has been arrested.
The sheriff's office said 27-year-old Frederick Joseph Cusick was booked Monday on suspicion of threatening the sheriff to promote the interests of a Mexican drug cartel that had taken a bounty on Arpaio's life.
Investigators said Cusick had a deep dislike of police and said in his posting that he was going to take up the cartel's offer, had an arsenal of weapons and that Arpaio wouldn't be around much longer.
No weapons were found in a search of his home.
It's unclear whether Cusick has a lawyer.
The phone at his home was disconnected when The Associated Press called there Thursday.
