PHOENIX — All checkpoints related to the Yarnell Hill Fire will be lifted Wednesday at 6 a.m., the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.
The removal of checkpoints means that Highway 89, which runs through Yarnell, will be open. Neighborhoods damaged by the fire will also be open.
Law enforcement will be on scene to ensure that there is no harassment or trespassing by media or other people and that roads remain clear.
YCSO said that there is on-going work in the community as water and other utility lines are restored.
The Yarnell Hill Fire destroyed 109 homes in the community and damaged more than 20 others. It also killed 19 firefighters who were honored at a memorial service on Tuesday.
