Suburban Phoenix teacher pleads not guilty in sex case
GILBERT, Ariz. -- A teacher who lives in Mesa and works in Gilbert has pleaded not guilty to charges of having sex with a 17-year-old girl who had been one of his students.
A Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman said 29-year-old Andrew James Teaters pleaded not guilty on Monday. He's accused of sexual conduct with a minor.
Gilbert police said Teaters, who was employed at Gilbert Early College, told them that he got romantically involved with the high schooler earlier this year.
