GILA BEND, Ariz. — The bodies of three men have been found in a desert area near Gila Bend and authorities say it appears they died at least a week ago.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials said the bodies were recovered Friday with help from the U.S. Border Patrol.
They say the bodies were found near State Route 85 between Gila Bend and Ajo, and four bundles of drugs were near the bodies.
The Gila Bend area has been a pathway for traffickers headed to Phoenix, which is a busy hub for moving migrants and marijuana into the United States.
On June 20, authorities found the bodies of four men in the desert near Gila Bend.
Sheriff's officials say two of the men carried Mexican identification while the other two had no ID cards.
