Memorial for fallen Prescott hotshots grows

PHOENIX — The memorial for the fallen 19 hotshots is growing outside of the station the crew worked out of.
The memorial outside Station 7 in Prescott, Ariz., began with a few small mementos but soon ballooned into signs, personal notes and bouquets of flowers.
The hotshots, members of the elite Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew, were trapped by the Yarnell Hill Fire over the weekend. In a desperate attempt at survival, the firefighters unfurled their foil-lined emergency shelters, but those offer only limited protection when in the direct path of a raging fire. None survived.
The fire has burned about 13 square miles near Prescott and has destroyed about 200 homes and other structures.
