PHOENIX -- A horror-themed restaurant in Mesa, Ariz., will reopen in August.

According to Monsterland's Facebook page, the restaurant will reopen on Aug. 24. The restaurant is planning an event to commemorate the occasion called the "Resurrection Party."

Monsterland originally opened in April 2012 but closed in January because it was overwhelmed.

"We focused on good fresh prepared menu items, Arizona Craft beers, and great service. We struggled at our opening, but am proud to say we have received hundreds of positive reviews and compliments the past 9 months," said former owner Kevin Wynn in a letter posted to Facebook.

Wynn attempted to find someone to take over the restaurant but failed. It is unknown if he is going to be involved in the revamped Monsterland.

The restaurant, located near 13th Street and Main in downtown Mesa, was originally a haunted house.
