Tempe motorcycle officer hit by cabbie
TEMPE, Ariz. -- A Tempe police officer is recovering after authorities said he was struck by a taxi cab while on his motorcycle.
Police said the officer was hit early Sunday morning when the cab driver made an illegal U-turn in the area of Rural Road and University Drive.
According to police, the officer was thrown off his bike and into the street. He was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The taxi driver was issued two civil traffic citations and released.
The accident remains under investigation.
