Crews busy bolstering lines around Arizona blaze
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Fire managers have decided to lift evacuations for some neighborhoods affected by a blaze in Arizona's Granite Mountain Wilderness.
As of Saturday evening, residents in the Williamson Valley Road area will be allowed to return home. That includes the American Ranch, Sundown Acres, Cielo Grande, Stazinski Road and Mint Creek Ranch neighborhoods.
Evacuations will remain in place for Granite Basin and a few other areas.
In all, the Doce Fire forced the evacuation of more than 460 homes after it started Tuesday northwest of Prescott.
Firefighters focused Saturday on bolstering fire lines. They have contained 40 percent of the fire despite the hot, dry conditions.
The fire has charred almost 11 square miles.
Crews are also battling a fire in eastern Arizona that has charred more than 2 square miles. The Rock Creek Fire is not threatening any structures.
