According to police, an employee at a Glendale convenience store called 911 to report someone acting suspiciously in the store. Police said when officers arrived the suspect, Jourdan Akili Wagner, took off running.
Authorities said Wagner ran through yards and threatened residents with a gun until he exchanged gunfire with Glendale officers Kevin Robertson and officer Jason Chambers.
Police said Wagner was shot and later died at the hospital.
Officials said a police K-9 named Ronin also was shot and later died. No funeral plans have been announced.
Robertson and Chambers were placed on paid administrative leave, a standard practice for officer-involved shootings.
