TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson man has been convicted of second-degree murder in a 2010 fatal shooting.

Pima County prosecutors say jurors found 26-year-old Mario Hipolito Enriquez guilty on Thursday.

He's scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 13.

Prosecutors throughout the trial accused Enriquez of lying to police and concocting a cover story to downplay his involvement in the death of 74-year-old William Herr in November 2010.

Authorities say Herr was shot four times with an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle and Enriquez then fled to Mexico.

The Arizona Daily Star says Enriquez's attorney claims his client was defending himself when Herr was shot.
