SALT LAKE CITY -- Officials are imposing campfire restrictions on parts of Utah and Arizona that are under a red-flag wildfire warning.
Starting Thursday, federal and state officials say they will impose the restrictions on public lands in southern Utah and northern Arizona.
Fireworks and welding are also banned. Smoking is prohibited outside buildings and vehicles.
People can use campfire pits or grills at developed camping areas.
The restrictions cover five counties of southwest Utah, the Dixie National Forest, Zion and Bryce national parks, Cedar Breaks National Monument, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the Arizona Strip and the Pipe Spring National Monument.
Private lands in unincorporated areas are under the same restrictions. The rules don't apply to incorporated towns and cities, which may have their own restrictions.
