PRESCOTT -- Prescott police said a Prescott woman won't face charges for an accident in which she ran over her 8-year-old grandson.

The 8-year-old boy was reported in stable condition Friday at Phoenix Children's Hospital where he underwent surgery Thursday night.

Police said the boy had surgery for head and facial lacerations and a broken jaw.

According to police, the boy was swimming at his grandmother's house in Prescott. He decided to warm up by lying on the concrete sidewalk near a driveway Thursday afternoon.

Police said the grandmother started to back up at some point and struck the boy.

The youth was pinned between a trailer hitch on the car and the pavement.

The names of the boy and his grandmother weren't released.
