PHOENIX -- The Maricopa County attorney's office announced Wednesday it has declined to file sexual assault charges against a former Arizona State University swim coach.

"After a careful review of the information contained in the investigation, we determined that there was sufficient cause to seek an indictment in this matter," said County Attorney Bill Montgomery in a press release. "However, we were unable to meet the necessary burden of proof required to move forward with formal charges. Absent additional information which could support these or other allegations, we will not pursue this matter further."

The coach, Greg Winslow, was accused in February of kissing and fondling a teenage member of a swimming club at a school swimming facility back in 2005. The victim is not an ASU student and the club is not affiliated with the university.

He had most recently coached at the University of Utah.

ASU's police department originally recommended that Winslow be charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
