ANTHEM, Ariz. -- A Valley woman was arrested Tuesday after her 2-year-old child was found wondering a neighborhood in Anthem, Ariz.

Arizona Child Protective Services has taken temporary custody of Skylyn Altizer.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials said they received a call about Altizer, who had been left with relatives, walking in the area of Morse Court and National Trail, around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Altizer was discovered in the driveway of a home a couple of blocks away, reportedly wearing just a shirt and a diaper. The family there changed her diaper, fed her and called authorities.

MCSO officials said Altizer and her mother, Nichole Hockett, were reunited Tuesday after a day-care worker called the woman after seeing a television news report and recognizing the child.

Hockett has a history with CPS.

"This suspect's past history with CPS, combined with what happened in the early morning hours today, clearly shows that she is an unfit mother," said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. "The child is better off being cared for by someone else until her problems are dealt with by a court of law."

Hockett was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail.
