TUCSON -- A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident last month that killed a Sun Tran bus driver in Tucson.

Pima County Sheriff's officials say 24-year-old Enrique Hernandez was taken into custody Wednesday.

He's being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury or death.

Authorities say 64-year-old John Akers was riding his bicycle to work about 3:30 a.m. on May 23 when he was struck and killed.

They say Akers was in the middle of the intersection when a car hit him and then fled the scene.

Authorities didn't immediately know Wednesday night if Hernandez had an attorney yet for his case.

The Arizona Daily Star says Akers had worked for Sun Tran since May 1974.
