DEA charges a Cochise County detention officer
FLORENCE, Ariz. -- The Cochise County Sheriff's Office says one of its detention officers has been arrested on suspicion of drug offenses.
Sheriff's officials say officer Mario Serrano has been charged by the Drug Enforcement Administration after a joint investigation that's still ongoing.
They say Serrano has been with the Sheriff's Office since December 2001.
Authorities said Tuesday that Serrano has already resigned from the Sheriff's Office.
Details of the allegations against Serrano weren't immediately released.
