NOGALES, Ariz. -- Federal authorities have seized a shipment of jalapenos that had marijuana hidden inside more than 2,000 cans.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they arrested a 34-year-old Mexican man who was driving the big rig trying to enter Arizona at the Nogales port on Tuesday.

A CBP narcotics detection canine alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the truck's shipment of canned jalapenos.

Authorities say the 3,300 pounds of marijuana found inside the cans had an estimated value of $1.6 million.

The driver was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. His name and hometown weren't immediately available Wednesday.
