Phoenix man pleads not guilty in fatal shooting
PHOENIX -- A Phoenix man accused of fatally shooting the boyfriend of an exotic dancer has pleaded not guilty.
Maricopa County prosecutors said 23-year-old Marshon Garth was arraigned Wednesday. His next scheduled court date is July 10.
Phoenix police said Garth met a 27-year-old exotic dancer at a residence on April 30 and she agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money.
Afterward, the two are said to have had an argument over payment and she called her boyfriend for help leaving the residence.
Police said Garth shot at both victims, causing their vehicle to run up on the curb and hit a tree.
The woman survived her injuries, but authorities said 23-year-old Michael Ray Gauer died at the scene.
Garth was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping.
