PHOENIX -- Phoenix police said lasers were pointed at a police helicopter in separate incidents in the city early Wednesday morning, with one resulting in an arrest.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the helicopter was illuminated first near the 3700 block of West Tonopah Drive shortly after midnight.

Thomson said no arrest was made in that incident but that a man was arrested after the helicopter was illuminated about two hours later near the 1800 block of East Sheridan Street.

No other details were immediately available.

Pointing a laser at an aircraft can be dangerous because of possible injury to the eyes of pilots and others.

Thompson said there is no immediate indication that the helicopter's crew was injured in Wednesday's incidents.
