YUMA, Ariz. -- Authorities in Yuma have identified a man who was fatally shot after he allegedly broke into a home.

Yuma County Sheriff's officials announced Tuesday that the victim is 19-year-old Matthew Sykora.

They say deputies responded to a home about 1:30 a.m. Monday on a report of a possible intruder inside the house.

When they arrived, they say a man was found dead inside the house with a single gunshot wound.

They say the homeowner claims he was awoken by the sounds of a possible intruder inside his house.

He armed himself and says he shot the intruder.

Sheriff's officials say the shooting case remains under investigation.

The name of the homeowner also hasn't been released yet by Yuma authorities.
