Arizona making progress on World War II memorial

PHOENIX — Arizona’s fallen World War II soldiers will be memorialized outside the state capitol building by year’s end.
By December of this year, a steel structure listing the names of nearly 2,000 soldiers will be nestled between the historic gun barrels of the U.S.S. Arizona and U.S.S. Missouri.
Arizona Sec. of State Ken Bennett said the project is privately funded and taxpayer dollars will not be used to build the memorial. Bennett explained that anyone can contribute to the project by purchasing a commemorative brick to pave the way to the memorial.
