BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — A portion of Interstate 17 was closed for hours due to a fatal collision, prompting Arizona transportation officials to warn holiday travelers of delays.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says Saturday's crash involved a driver traveling in the wrong direction on southbound I-17 north of Black Canyon City.
Television station KNXV reports two people were killed in the multi-vehicle crash.
Both directions of the interstate were reopened by the afternoon, but officials say the heavy backup was expected to take some time to unwind.
