PHOENIX -- A 28-year-old man shot himself in a hospital where he went following an apparent domestic dispute in which his former boyfriend was shot and wounded outside a store where he worked, police said Tuesday.
The man shot himself in a lobby of John C. Lincoln Hospital when a police officer arrived after getting a call about a man with a gun at his head, police said.
The man is suspected of previously walking into a juice store with a handgun, ordering the three employees to hand over their cellphones, and forcing one of the workers out the back door.
That worker, the 24-year-old former boyfriend, then fought with the gunman in a parking lot behind the store before the younger man was shot twice, police said.
Both men were hospitalized in critical condition.
Their identities were not immediately released.
