YUMA, Ariz. ó A new curbside recycling service will begin Monday in Yuma with the delivery of the first wave of blue containers.

City officials say the first containers will be delivered to homes along Lorenzo Lane in the Tamarack subdivision. It will take about 14 weeks to roll out all of the containers.

Once residents get their containers, pickup service will start the following week.

Anything from aluminum and steel cans to cardboard, paper, plastics and glass will be accepted.

City officials say the program is voluntary, but they're encouraging residents to participate. They say it will save the city money by depositing less into the landfill.

Any money saved in the city's solid waste fund serves as a buffer against raising solid waste fees.
