KINGMAN, Ariz. ó A Kingman woman is being accused of beating her mother and killing a cat.

Authorities say 47-year-old Lana Renee Meadville was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony domestic violence and felony animal cruelty.

Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter says deputies found Meadville sitting in a chair at a home on North Skylark Road. A knife was on the floor next to the chair and the body of the cat nearby.

Meadville's 74-year-old mother told deputies her daughter threw the dead cat at her and got her on the ground and hit her in the face numerous times.

Deputies say the mother's eyes were swollen and bruised.

Meadville was booked into the Mohave County jail. It wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
