PHOENIX — A second man who plead guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in 2002 was caught on Tuesday, police said.
Mazen Diamond was apprehended in Atlanta after he skipped out on his sentencing hearing more than a decade ago. Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley said Diamond created a new identity and was married with children.
After Diamond was caught, Pooley said the victim felt relieved.
“It was like a big burden being lifted off of her,” he said. “She was very grateful.”
Diamond and his accomplice, Antonio Julio Sanchez who was apprehended in Miami last month, drugged the victim at a Tempe bar, took her to their apartment and assaulted her and videotaped the assault.
